I looked up this Wolf Hall trilogy; interesting. You seem to be very in to it!
I have great antipathy for Oliver Cromwell (my Irish heritage don't you know) but I guess he wasn't a direct descendant of the Cromwell in these books.
It is indeed a reference to Sir Thomas More! And I do highly recommend the Wolf Hall trilogy - the pace of the read-through I'm participating in (40-odd pages a week) honestly makes it even more enjoyable. It's especially interesting if you've read/seen A Man for All Seasons.

I haven't read or seen A Man for All Seasons, but the early modern period is fascinating. I'll give it a try!
